POSITION SUMMARY: The Accountant prepares financial statements for internal and external users. Responsibilities also include reconciling revenues, costs, financial commitments and obligations incurred to identify variances. The position ensures accuracy and consistency of financial and statistical information and reports organization's finances to management, offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. Works with Internal and External Auditors as well as other internal departments including the Affiliates Accounting Department. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks and works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 year's prior experience in Healthcare or related area. The candidate should also be familiar with commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the field. Extensive computer experience with Microsoft Office products and related software required. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires desk and computer work a majority of the day with frequent standing and walking and reaching.
