Job Summary: This individual is responsible for ordering, receiving, and stocking supplies and equipment. Issues and tracks purchase orders on a daily basis, identifies trends that affect the input of this information as well as the hospital's operation. Responsibilities: Identifies inventory needs for all departments in hospital. Orders both medical and office supplies and equipment as needed. | Stocks and labels all charged medical and office supplies. | Maintains and organizes all medical and office storage locations. | Revises information in the computer system as needed. | Communicates with the Controller to ensure inventory levels are sufficient. Will also keep the Controller informed of any special inventory needs. | Coordinates purchase orders and packing slips to ensure items have been ordered and received properly. | Provides professional, accurate, and timely service in all material management functions and as directed by patients/families, physicians or other hospital representatives. | Informs the Controller when a new inventory item is requested. | Maintains a log of rental equipment and daily usage. Ensures that rental equipment is returned on a timely basis. | Demonstrates ongoing competency skills including age-specific competencies, above level problem solving skills, and decision making abilities. Assist IT in troubleshooting IT related issues. Prepares and packages IT equipment for shipment when outside repair is needed. Other duties as assigned. | Professional Requirements: | Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean. | Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and Joint Commission regulations. | Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times. | Reports to work on time and as scheduled. | Wears identification while on duty. | Attends departmental in-services and completes annual competencies/education requirements. | Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, and staff. | Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. | Complies with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, infection control and emergency management. | Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. | Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department. | Experience/Skills: High School Diploma required. Some college preferred. Minimum of 2 years experience in purchasing preferred. Must be able to deal tactfully with patients, physicians, visitors, and the general public. Good communication and organizational skills. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Physical and Safety Requirements: - Good general health and stress coping ability. Normal walking, standing, sitting, bending, carrying of medium size items such as boxes weighing up to 30lbs. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with all constituents (patients, families, peers, and other healthcare team members) as needed for leadership, assessment, intervention, and professional development.
