The Patient Safety Analyst maintains the patient safety event reporting system, reviews detailed patient care-related errors and utilizes independent judgment to determine the triage investigation strategy. Responsible for assessing clinical, hospital and patient safety quality-of-care issues, including internal review, investigation, analysis and follow-up, to decrease likelihood of reoccurrence. Generates reports that identify trends that impact patient safety.
Specific Responsibilities: - Performs system administrator duties for patient safety event reporting system.
- Reviews details of reported patient care-related errors to determine and initiate triage investigation strategies.
- Works with department leaders and staff to ensure reporting of errors. Monitors and reports trends.
- Evaluates clinical, hospital and patient safety quality-of-care issues, including internal review and investigation.
- Analyzes events to decrease likelihood of reoccurrence.
- Assists in the development and implementation of patient safety program.
- Tracks and trends the safety data, and assists with development of action plans and risk-modification strategies.
- Assists with submission to the New Jersey Patient Safety Initiative and other regulatory agencies.
- Develops reports and dashboards that leverage strong visualizations and presentations to enable senior management and stakeholder teams' comprehension of initiative impact results.
- Produces reports as requested by administration, clinical departments or committees using available information systems and databases.
- Participates in statistical analysis, interpretation, monitoring and trending of clinical data.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other healthcare-related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality management, safety or risk management in healthcare environment.
- Strong analytical skills required.
- Possesses excellent organizational, interpersonal, conflict-resolution, verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Self-starter with ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously utilizing project management skill set, and ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with all levels of leadership; demonstrates ability to foster teamwork and bring together and work effectively with diverse groups in a collaborative manner.
- Strong computer skills required; MS Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint).
