Description: The Professional Nurse is responsible for the supervision, direction, implementation and evaluation of quality patient care during the assigned work hours. Essential Functions: Management of patient care in the Emergency Room according to the nursing process to include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Actively participates in the promotion of quality patient care. Leadership abilities are demonstrated in functioning as a professional role model, consumer relations and communications skills, problem solving and decision making and assistance in orienting and training personnel. Collaborates with other healthcare providers to coordinate the patient’s plan of care.Assumes responsibility for ensuring continued professional growth. Other Functions: Participates in the Emergency Room QPI plan. Serves on Hospital committees and participates in committee evaluation processes as necessary. Experience: Two (2) years previous experience in Medical-Surgical and/or previous outpatient experience preferred. Education & Training: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Licensure, Certification, Registration & Evaluation: Current Pennsylvania license as a registered professional nurse (RN). BCLS certification required. ACLS certification required within 6 months after employment. PALS certification required within 6 months of employment. CEN preferred. Other Requirements: Required to work flexible shifts and hours in order to accommodate the needs of patients on a daily basis. Employee performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethic’s and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, or, upward through the chain of command, Director of Legal Compliance or hospital hotline.
